Freestyle is a rapidly developing adaptation of existing gymnastics skills and incorporates aspects of other popular activities such as parkour, free – running and martial arts. We aim to build confidence and spacial awareness as each individual face fears whether that be jumping between blocks or trying a variations of gymnastics skills to make it their own. Coaches will focus on the key skills and help each individual unleash creativity with movement to use the apparatus in a way that steps away from traditional gymnastics and encourages them to be challenged.
The participants will use a variety of apparatus during the sessions such as; floor, vault, trampoline and the foam pit area. Each session includes a warm – up and conditioning and flexibility exercises and participants work on developing their vaults, leaps, kicks and somersaults in a safe and enjoyable environment. Each term we hold two badge testing days, the Freestyle Award classes has its own badge system from badge 6 to badge 1, which gymnasts will progress through to watch their progress each term.
Our freestyle award classes are structured sessions for boys and girls from 4 – 16 years. The classes are led by our British Gymnastics affiliated coaches who show a true passion for freestyle gymnastics, these sessions are perfect to take skills from and use in our freestyle drop-in sessions where participants can socialise with other like-minded free-runners, parkour athletes and trickers.
